Inky Johnson

Never let a circumstance or situation define your life!

Be committed to everything you start!  You have too much equity in your life to stop now.

Your motivation is the breath & life in your body.

Everything we are a part of is a blessing by God!

Every day – Impact – Empower – Inspire – encourage by the way you live!

Gen. 6:5 (NLT)  The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.

So, God sent judgement – a flood that covered the whole earth.

Now the enemy is imitating God by flooding our thoughts.  But God tells us to renew our minds from the humanness.

We are serving the superior power not the inferior power.

2 Cor. 10:3-6

Knock down your human thoughts.  Gen. 6:5 told us human thoughts are evil.  Rest in God’s presence.

Capture every human thought, to think like God.  A lot of injuries you can see, but many carry all kinds of inward injures.  Making you wonder if you can trust God?  Rest in God?  Have God’s Peace?  The enemy wants to take you out!

Keep your focus on “God is Good”!   Do not allow the enemy to distract you.  He wants you to question God.

God said He will never destroy the earth again with a flood.   Rev. 12:13-17   Verse 15 the serpent spewed water out like a flood to destroy the woman and her children, that he might cause her to be carried away.   The fiery darts (thoughts) of the wicked are trying to take over our minds to defeat you.  Get you to distrust the covenant that God has made with you.

Fiery dart – why don’t we see healing? Provisions?  These kinds of thoughts flood your mind.

Refocus on God’s covenant

  • Crucifixion, God sent His Son to deliver you
  • Sabbath a day to know your creator
  • Giving – He’s my provider/source.  We give because of the covenant relationship with Him.  He’s got me.  He is my provider.  He has all I have need of.

And all of it points back to the issues of the heart.

Do I believe —

  • I am loved because the Father loves me!
  • I am worth the price Jesus paid!
  • There are rewards in my relationship with God – joy, peace, rest, provision……….

Always focus on what does God say.   You are in a covenant with Him!

The ark of the covenant was taken from Israel.  They didn’t notice that the presence of God was gone until the ark was taken.   Many people do not recognize that God’s presence is not with them.  We need relationship with Him.

Eli was the priest at this time.  He became fat and lazy.  His children did whatever they wanted.

Hannah wanted a child so bad she promised God she would give her child to the Lord.  She had Samuel.  Samuel was raised by Eli.   As a child God spoke to Samuel at night, calling him by name.  Samuel would run to Eli.  “Do you want something?”   After the third time, Eli told Samuel to say “Yes, Lord”.   God spoke to a child because the priest quit listening.  He became complacent.  Eli dies.  The presence of the Lord leaves Israel.

David wants the presence of the Lord back!

Participation is needed to bring a vision into completion.   People can get so full that they become prideful.  We need to use our gifts, or we will use them against each other.

2 Samuel 6

David had the structure, but the presence of God was gone!

Who can come into “MY” presence – “Those who have clean hands and a pure heart”.  You can’t be super saint on Sunday and the rest of the week do what you want.”

“Be still and know that I am God”.

As they are bringing back the ark they get to the threshing floor and the ox stumble.  The threshing floor is to get the flesh out of us.  There is a shaking.  Uzzah reaches out to steady the ark and he is struck dead!  Sometimes it’s not your condition – you are out of position.

When the shaking takes place, we want to push it.  The pushing causes the division in churches.  We see what is taking place and we want to help.  Uzzah lost his life trying to help, wrongly.

David was upset, he left the ark right where it was.  When things start to shake – many leave.  But the presence of God is still being offered.  The anger, frustration, fear, offense won’t allow you to carry the vision.  Let them go and seek the Lord.   David did!

Uzzah was out of place!  The ark was never meant to be carried on a cart.  It was to be carried on the shoulders of the people.

God told David – you haven’t prepared a place for “ME”.

We need to prepare ourselves as the dwelling place of God and then the fire will fall.  Not a temporary place, but a permanent place.  Sanctify, set yourself apart, to carry the presence of God.  Seek Him first.

You don’t need a new cart or object to carry the presence of God.  You are the carrier of His presence.

God wants His people to carry His presence together.  When they do His yoke is easy.  Everyone in the church has a place and each one brings their piece to the table.  When everyone is in their place there is balance in the house.

The enemy may push your buttons to keep us in division.  But when we know our place, we give him (enemy) no place.

Share your God stories with your children so they are prepared to carry the presence of God also.  Older teach the younger – practical insight.  Train them as Samuel was trained to hear the voice of God.

Pastor’s Comment –  Let us pull together.  Carrying our part. Setting ourselves apart to know God – Share Him with others.  We each have a place!  There are many places to be filled to see the vision of reaching others for the Kingdom of God.

Mark 6:42-45   Jesus feed 5,000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fishes

We need to carry a childlike faith.  We haven’t heard it all or seen it all.

The disciples saw the miracle of the loaves and fishes being multiplies but they failed to consider the miracle.

Jesus was first moved with compassion for the people – the church needs compassion.

But – we’ve been hurt, and we carry scars.   The enemies goal is to wear us down, so you lose your stamina, you become tired of fighting.

The disciples wanted to send the people away.  We don’t have the money or resources.  Focus on what you do have!

What do you have?   What is it that you value?   Don’t become co-dependent on the things of this world.

Keep your child like faith.  The little boy gave what he had – 5 loaves, 2 fish.  People who lack are more sensitive than those who have a lot.  Bring what you have to Jesus.

Quit trying!  “BE STILL”!   God wants to get you structurally sound to handle what he wants you to do.

Be thankful for what you have!  God can’t trust you with any more if you are not thankful.  When you bless what you have it can be used.

The key is in the breaking – when you break, from your pride, rebellion God is able to use you.  Breaking is a defining moment.  Bowing down before the Lord is a breaking.

When Jesus blessed the bread and broke it, that’s when the multiplication began.  Jesus told the disciples to go and give.  God can take your little, break it, and give more than you started with.

What do you have?  Be thankful for it.  Bless it.  Allow it to be broken.  Then give what you have to others.

Thanksgiving is weeks away but we can be thankful today!  Thankful that God has made a way for us to belong to Him again and follow Jesus with empowerment from His Spirit.

Luke 9:23  Jesus said – “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

When we think of a cross we think of death but a cross is also a change in life.  One where a decision is made and because of that we live differently.  Jesus said – “follow Me”   We can not follow Jesus from a distance we have to be closely following.   He has given us the Bible to help us.  In the Bible anything we need for life can be found there.  Instructions for relationship – marriage, singleness, parenting, job related relationships.   Money instructions, if you have a lot of money or no money, you can find help there.  Information on love and hate.  The Bible teaches us who we really are. How loved and accepted we are.  What we are capable of.   There is so much that God wants to share with us, but we need to be reading His words and listening for His voice.

John 10:27  Jesus say, “My sheep hear My voice and the follow Me”.

Matthew 11:28-29  (Jesus was saying to those who were listening)  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Jesus is asking us to yoke – unite ourselves with Him.  Following close to.  Allowing Him to teach us.  He says He will be gentle and humble with us and we will find what we can not buy – REST!  Deep inside of ourselves REST!

Psalm 1 –  The man who walks not  after the counsel of the ungodly, or stands with sinners, or sits in the seat of the scornful but delights in the Lord and meditates on His ways – day and night, will be blessed.  He will be like a tree planed by the waters and will bring forth fruit and will prosper.

James 4:7-17   As we draw near to God, humbling ourselves before Him, He will lift us up.   Don’t get caught up in judging others, keep your focus on your own life before the Lord.

Psalm 19:1-14   God’s words will:  Convert our souls.  Make us wise.  Make us glad.  Enlighten our lives.  Will endure forever. They are true and right!  Better than money, sweeter than honey.  We are warned and rewarded and strengthened by them.

You are invited to join us in 2018 with reading through the Bible with the Life Journal plan.  Let us grow together, reestablish ourselves on who He is and who we are.  Learning all He has to say about this life He has blessed us with.

From the very beginning, God has tried to establish a very simple foundational truth. In Genesis 1 we see that every seed produces according to its kind. Apples produce apples, bananas produce bananas, monkeys produce monkeys, and people produce people.  Every seed produces fruit according to it’s nature.  Galatians 6:7 warns us not to be deceived, whatever a man sows, that he will reap.  1 John 3:7 also warns us not to be deceived:

“Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.”

When Adam sinned, man became corrupted with the seed of sin.  Everyone born after Adam was born into sin.  Everyone except Christ.  He was born of a virgin.  No man’s seed corrupted his being.  In John 3 he said that we needed to be born again.  Why?  Because we must put to death the old man born into sin, and be born by the spirit of God.  Everyone who is born of the Spirit does not sin.  Read 1 John – especially chapter 3.  Anyone who continues to sin doesn’t understand who Jesus was and is or why he came (1 John 3:6)

Matthew 7 again warns us not to be deceived about this law of each see producing after its own kind.  Every good tree produces good fruit, and every bad tree produces bad fruit.  Then Jesus gives us a promise.  In the reaching of the wise and foolish man, he says that anyone who follows his teaching will stand.  When the circumstances of life come against us, yes, we will stand and produce the fruit of righteousness.  It’s his promise.  But in order to inherit the promise we must understand this foundational truth that each seed produces after its own kind.

Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:7‭-‬8 NLT
YES!  Jesus has destoryed the enemies work in the lives of those who believe!

Sermon Highlights!

From the very beginning, God has tried to establish a very simple foundational truth. In Genesis 1 we see that every seed produces according to its kind. Apples produce apples, bananas produce bananas, monkeys produce monkeys, and people produce people.  Every seed produces fruit according to its nature.
Galatians 6:7 warns us not to be deceived, whatever a man sows, that he will reap.
1 John 3:7 also warns us not to be deceived: “Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this:  When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.”

When Adam sinned, man became corrupted with the seed of sin. Everyone born after Adam was born into sin.  Everyone except Christ. He was born of a virgin.  No man’s seed corrupted His being. In John chapter 3 He said that we needed to be born again.  Why?  Because we must put to death the old man born into sin, and be born by the Spirit of God. Everyone who is born of the Spirit does not sin. Read 1 John – especially chapter 3.  Anyone who continues to sin doesn’t understand who Jesus was and is or why He came (1 John 3:6)

Matthew 7 again warns us not to be deceived about this law of each seed producing after its own kind.  Every good tree produces good fruit, and every bad tree produces bad fruit.  Then Jesus gives us a promise. In the teaching of the wise and foolish man, He says that anyone who follows His teaching will stand.  When the circumstances of life come against us, we will stand and produce the fruit of righteousness.  It is His promise.  But in order to inherit the promise we must understand this foundational truth that each seed produces after its own kind.

1 John 3:7  (NLT)  Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.

Learn from and move beyond the Israelite’s mindset.

-don’t look back at our past,

-don’t look with fear into the future,

but always look toward God with hope and trust and assurance that He is God and bigger than any situation we face.

The Israelites had a poor mindset rooted in complaining, selfishness, pride, blame, jealousy and unforgiveness…but we don’t have to share that mindset! We are free and not slaves to that kind of thinking!

God sent :

Moses to deliver Israel             /              Jesus to deliver us

-A cloud and fire to lead Israel        /              Sent His Holy Spirit to lead us

-Gave 10 commandments              /               Gave the Bible and speaks directly to our hearts to teach us to be like Him                  for protection, direction and to                                                                                                                                                                      teach honor

-deliverance was a process           /                Our deliverance is done. Yet our journey is a relational process of drawing closer                                                                                     and closer to Gods heart, nature and Truth

-complaining and bad attitudes     /               Bad attitudes, unbelief, negative speaking can affect the power we walk in                      delayed and restricted them                                                                                                                                                                              from the promise

-The journey was to develop faith   /          Our journey will develop our character our faith, our relationship with God                and character to live in the promise

-The original Israelite’s did not make /       We will live in promise! We will believe God and trust Him!                                                  it to their promise.

Which side of the cross do you live on?

Do you live on the side of salvation where you continue to ask for forgiveness all the time?  Or have you crossed to the side where you are growing up into all things in the Lord?

Rev. 12:1-12

There was a war for our souls!   Verse 7 shows a war in the heavenlies.    What kind of war was it?  The angels that were fighting didn’t die.   It was a war of displacement!    Jesus came to defeat, displace Satan.   He is now our advocate before the Father.

Verse 10  …Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night has been cast down.  11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives to the death.  12  Rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them!  Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea!  For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.

The enemy needs to be displaced from our minds!  Who is going to control your reality on earth?  God or the Satan?

Satan’s plan is to defeat you, make you sad, discourage you……

Jesus’s plan is to lift you up allow you to stand on truth, His peace, His faith……..    The blood that Jesus shed is well able to accomplish our release from all that Satan would try to put on us.

Ephesians 6:10  ….be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Show us Lord where we are not living in the power of Your might!  May we come into agreement with God’s plan.  That agreement brings us into an increase of God’s presence.

May Your Kingdom come, Your will be done.  On earth as it is in heaven.  (Matthew 6: 9-13  Lord’s Prayer)    Pray with the right motive: pure, holy, pleasing God, rolling back the evil.

The enemy has a right to be here until he is displaced, by the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony.    Living in His purity, not allowing bitter and sweet words to come from the same lips, and fasting negativity.

Father, renew a right spirit in me!  May Your Kingdom come, Your will be done in me as in heaven.

Acts 17:22-34   We gather to worship the known God.  The God who made the world and everything in it.  He needs nothing from humans.  He gives life to all and breath to all.   His plan is for us to seek Him and find Him not grope around in the dark.  He is not far from us.

Deuteronomy 30:11-16  God is not to mysterious or to difficult to understand.  We don’t have to go to heaven and have Him brought down (Jesus did that), nor do we have to go looking for Him across the sea.  His word is very near.  In our mouth and in our heart so we are able to do it.

Back to Acts –  It is in Him we live and move and have our very being!    –   When Paul talked about Jesus and His resurrection from the dead – some people made fun of what was being said.   Others said I have to think about it.  But there were some who believed!   It is time to be “All In”!  No more making fun or trying to figure things out – just believe!

James 3:1-18   Let’s us know we can’t be blessing one time and cursing the next.  We can’t pray in love and live in hate.  Nor can we say God is so good and go around murmuring and complaining.  This shows we are double minded, unsure of who we belong to.  We show who we belong to by our speech and actions.  When we are bitter, envious, self-seeking; pride is right there.  It is a false truth.  It may look and sound good at the moment even self protecting but the results are not good!    James tells us this wisdom does not come down from above but it earthly, sensual, even demonic –  OH!

Bitterness is being angry, hurt, resentful.

Envy is when we are discontent, resentful of someone else.

Resentful keeps popping up.  It means we are feeling or expressing bitterness or indignation at having been treated unfairly.   Being treated unfairly happens a lot in this world.  And when it does we become selfish, lacking consideration for others.  Only concerned about our own pleasures or profit.  These emotions corrupt (alters) a person.

The wisdom that comes from God is first of all PURE (undefiled), peace-loving courteous (considerate, gentle).  It is willing to yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and free from doubts, free from wavering, and free from insincerity.

The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.   When Jesus gave the sermon on the mount, He said –  “Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called the sons of God”.

The words that we speak reveal who we truly belong to.   Blessings come from Christ!  Curses do not!

Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on things that are true, noble, just, pure lovely, good reports, virtuous thing, things that are worthy of praise.  These are the things that come from above.

Our words, thoughts and actions come from who we belong to.  Paul said in Acts – It is in Him we live and move and have our very  being.  Let’s get all in!  Then our words will be pure and healing, encouraging, strengthening to others and ourselves –   Get all in!  In Him we live and move and have our very being!

Short snippets from the day:

Our hope is in Christ!

The same power that resurrected Jesus from the dead lives in us (Rom. 8:11).  That Spirit gave Him new life!  We need to recognize the new life we have because of Jesus.  Jesus came to give us an abundant life.

Ask –  Let me know who I am in You.   Seek –  I am seeking to know You.  Knock – So you can enter into His kingdom now.  (Matt. 7:7-12)

You only have authority in the storms you can sleep in.  Our hope is in Jesus!

What heart is behind your words?  Don’t allow your focus to go negative.

God has all confidence in the power of the cross!  All sin was punished once and for all in Christ.

2 Cor. 5:11-21

  • Christ’s love controls me
  • We’ve died to old habits
  • Jesus reconciled people and no longer counts their sin against them.

Rom. 8:1-17

  • You are free from sin.
  • Jesus, came in the flesh, to show us we can live a pure life in our flesh-  when you live in His Spirit
  • Be marinated in the nature of God.  Not dominated by your sinful nature, or what others say or do.
  • Christ gives life to your mortal body.
  • You are no longer controlled by the sinful nature.  His Spirit lives in you
  • We are under no obligation to live in the flesh.

90% of people do not care about your problems.  The other 10% are glad you have problems.

Our hope is in Christ!  The same power that resurrected Him from the dead, and gave him life again, lives in us and gives us new life.   Let’s live in the resurrected power that lives inside of us!  The new life!  The abundant life, Jesus already paid for it!

Father God has complete confidence in the power of the cross and the resurrection of Jesus.

Thank you Lord for increasing our confidence also and aligning our thinking with Yours!
